Good Travels Ahead: 16 Hacks for Stress-Free Trips

Traveling is fun, but it can be a hassle when you’re packing and getting ready. To make your trip go as smoothly as possible, check out our travel hacks that make any trip easier. You’ll save time and money and have a much more pleasant time. The most experienced travelers know that finding simple tricks for trips can make all the difference.

Make A List

Being prepared is the best thing that you can do for yourself. Making a list ensures you don’t forget anything and have everything you need. You can use notebooks if you’re a writing person, or if you’re more tech-savvy, you can use an app on your phone. However, the list is not concrete. If you need to add something, go ahead.

Call Your Bank

Before you travel anywhere, you should call your bank. This ensures that your card won’t get flagged. When banks see more significant charges on your card, they will flag it for fraud so that you’re not being stolen from. Call them ahead of time so that they know that they won’t need to do that.

Shoulder Season

Shoulder season or off-season is the best time to travel because it’s cheaper. For instance, if you want to go to Greece, studies have suggested that the summer months are the best time to go, but they are more expensive. Try going in September or May for lower prices. In addition to this, check out the less popular destinations; you’ll save that way too.

Compression Socks

Compression socks are an absolute necessity when it comes to flying. If you suffer from swollen ankles or you have blood clot issues, you’ll need a pair of compression socks. This is to keep your blood flowing the way it needs to, and you won’t experience dangerous side effects from flying without them.

Don’t Take Valuables

It is sad that our world has come to this, but many women traveling alone have taken to wearing fake wedding rings (or, in some cases, real ones as thieves are getting smarter) to fool attackers or robbers. It’s a smart idea not to take anything you don’t want to lose.

Get A Good Suitcase

Getting a good suitcase and making sure it’s roomy is going to benefit you. You’ll have space for anything you need, including additional layers and shoes, and it should pack at least four days’ worth of clothes in case something happens. Most roomy suitcases also offer the benefit of coming with a toiletry bag and a backpack for additional needs.

Pack Based On A Color Palette

Depending on where you’re traveling, a color palette can be a better option. When packing for a trip, look at your clothes. For instance, are you packing mostly white pants or beige? Choose navy turtlenecks or other colors that blend well with neutrals. You’ll have a more versatile wardrobe, and you should be able to make a combination of outfits.

Pack A Laundry Bag

Many people avoid unpacking for as long as possible. While it’s understandable, having a laundry bag on hand can be necessary. Instead of having to go through the entire suitcase to unpack, just dump the laundry bag into the washing machine and boom! Half of the unpacking is done, just like that.

Tell Someone Where You Are

Now, when we say this, we don’t mean splash it across social media, as that can be dangerous (particularly so if you’re popular online). But you should tell someone where you’re going to be, whether it’s a cousin, friend, or another person you trust. You should also have location on your phone so someone can find you if necessary.

Print Out Copies Of Your Information

When traveling, you never know what’s going to happen. You should always have an extra copy of your passport printed out, as well as travel documents. Keep a third copy in your email for safekeeping. You have no idea how many people have been stranded because they didn’t do this.

Leak-Proof Toiletry Containers

The airplane will only let you take travel-size items, or it can get flagged for being too big. However, if you use containers, they could leak. A solution to this issue is to get leak-proof containers. You can use them to hold shampoo, conditioner, and face wash. Plus, spending on the ones you get, you can get them magnetized to make them easier to find.

Weigh Your Suitcase

Weighing your suitcase ahead of time will ensure that you’re not paying more than you have to, and you can decide what you might be able to leave behind. A weighing tool is available online for just under ten dollars, but if you have a scale at home, you can use that too. Just keep in mind that a home scale might be a little bit off.

Shoes

So you’ll need shoes, but they take up a big part of your suitcase. The rule of thumb is that you’ll wear a comfy pair of shoes at the airport, have another in your carry-on bag, and if needed, a third in your suitcase. You’ll need one pair of shoes for everyday use and another if you are going somewhere nice.

Grab And Go

So grab and go means the clothing you’ll wear every day—your important pieces like socks and tank tops, etc. If you have space in your bag, a small clothing organizer will keep these in an easy-to-find location, and it can help on your vacation. Remember, the idea is to make things easier, not more difficult.

Your Purse

When you’re traveling, you need a purse or travel bag that you can keep close to your body where the zippers aren’t easily accessible. You should choose zippers over buttons or flaps as they are easier to open. This will help stop pickpockets from getting your stuff and keeping you safe.

Travel Easier

When you want to travel more easily and not worry about anything, use our tips and tricks to ensure that you have nothing to worry about. You’ll also have more space in your traveling bags, and you won’t have to worry about TSA or other issues. Happy traveling and stay safe!
