There are many aspects of Christianity that people often misunderstand. They believe different things based on a variety of sources, but those things aren’t always true, and this leads to snap judgments. As a result, we’ve 15 things people get wrong, along with the truth that people should know.
Perfection

Many people are under the impression that Christians think they’re perfect, and that’s not the case. The Bible tells us that humans sin, and it’s by God’s grace that we’re forgiven, but Christians know that they’re not perfect. It’s about improving yourself and trying not to sin, not about seeking perfection.
Blind Faith

A popular misconception is that people follow God blindly, which is often expressed through the phrase “blind sheep.” The truth is, Christians choose to obey God. It’s a conscious decision, and it takes effort to get closer to Him and understand faith. It’s not a blind decision. Through the Christian faith, people ask questions so that they can gain a deeper understanding of their chosen belief.
Gender Equality

Another popular misconception that stems from a misunderstanding of Biblical scripture is that women are seen as having less value than men. The Bible speaks highly of women, declaring them to be strong, capable individuals who are the helpmate of their husband (if they’re married) and have significant roles, just like men do.
Anger

Anger is a natural human emotion, and Christians are permitted to experience it. They’re supposed to avoid feeling bitterness and resentment and practice forgiveness. However, while a Christian can feel anger, they’re expected to manage it and keep it under control. The key is finding healthy ways of expressing yourself while you work toward forgiveness.
Wealth

The love of money is the root of all evil, according to Scripture. That doesn’t mean that God doesn’t bless you. It’s very possible to be a Christian and be wealthy. The issue is letting money control you to a point where it’s the only thing you love or care about, and allowing it to become an idol. Christians are meant to focus on being responsible with their resources or on generosity instead.
Entertainment

If you’re a Christian, that doesn’t mean you can’t read, listen to music, watch TV, or engage in other activities. It means you have to exercise discernment about what you let into your mind. For instance, a movie that everyone wants to see may not go against the Bible, but it could cause you to feel conflicted if it contains elements you’re not comfortable with. Some Christians enjoy fantasy and horror, while others feel they can’t.
Everyone’s The Same

No one is the same, whether a Christian or not. While there are core beliefs that remain unchanged about Jesus, people can pray or study in different ways; one person may be modest while another exhibits a distinct style. One example is judgment. Many people think all Christians are judgmental, and while some are, others are not.
Judgmental

Nope. This one isn’t true either. As stated before, some people are judgmental, while others are not. However, it’s not fair to lump everyone together, assuming they are all the same when, in fact, they aren’t. Everyone has flaws and problems. Judging people isn’t the way to go, and the Bible gives clear instructions about judging others.
Boring

Christians aren’t dull. They simply adhere to a different belief system. Many believers possess a great sense of humor and lead lives filled with excitement and joy. While they generally don’t drink, engage in physical relationships, or smoke, that doesn’t make them boring.
Ignorance

Christians may have a different view from others, but that doesn’t mean they’re ignorant. They understand that some people believe in the Big Bang theory and other evolutionary concepts, but the fact that they don’t agree with those ideas doesn’t make them naive. Many Christians study science and are quick to point out that science doesn’t always contradict faith.
Friends

Friendship is a lovely gift, and if someone believes differently than you do, that doesn’t mean you have to avoid them. Christians can be friends with people, and the Bible encourages them to make friends with those who are positive. They are also encouraged to be positive themselves, and building friendships is an excellent opportunity for mutual support.
Science

This ties into the perception that Christians are naive, but many prominent scientists throughout history were practicing Christians. Faith explores spirituality, while science explores the natural world; however, the two don’t inherently contradict each other. They can coexist peacefully and invite open discussion with peers and those of different faiths.
Hate

There’s a misconception that Christians hate those who don’t follow their faith. That isn’t true. The Bible teaches that Christians are not supposed to hate anyone or anything. It’s not about hating people; it’s about treating people with respect and showing love as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Struggle

When someone becomes a Christian, they don’t stop struggling. Most Christians, like everyone else, experience hardships and challenges. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you’re immune to suffering or that you’ve never experienced it. Christians find God in both their lowest and highest moments, yet they still face struggles. Many admit that after coming to Christ, they continue to wrestle with sin, spiritual attacks, and inner conflict.
Hell

Christians don’t go to God for Hell insurance. They go to God because they believe in Him, and it’s genuinely fulfilling to be a Christian. Most people turn to God because they want to live a better life that pleases Him and brings happiness. They don’t put on an act or try to be holier than thou; they are simply trying to honor their Father.
Christians Are People

Christians are no different from anyone else; they simply hold a different belief system. Through this list, you can see that many people have misconceptions about Christians. However, we hope to have debunked these myths, allowing you to recognize the truth and understand that these misconceptions are false.
