15 Questions Atheists Want To Ask Christians

Belief brings comfort to millions, but it also brings a million questions. Some religions encourage you to have faith without doubting, though others encourage asking questions. Atheists want to ask questions about things that may be confusing or that people think don’t make sense. We’re here to answer your questions and help you make sense of faith.

God’s Voice

Many people wonder if they’re hearing God’s voice or their thoughts, and it’s a good question because it’s hard to discern. Across different cultures, you’ll find that some believe they hear from many Gods. Christians believe in one God. People of faith typically believe that the voice of God will align with the biblical scriptures, bringing peace and clarity.

Free Will

Another question that arises is whether or not people of faith have free will. Yes, they do. In Christianity, we choose to follow God. We have the choice not to, but along with that, there’s recognition that actions have consequences. In Christianity, the belief is that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and that the way to God is to follow Him.

Evidence

Many people ask if there is any evidence of God and the events described in the Bible. While some believe there isn’t any, there has been proof that the events in the bible were real. Scientists have identified locations in the Bible that still contain evidence; they’ve also presented evidence related to DNA and other areas.

Suffering

The most common question about God is, ‘Why is there suffering?’ To answer that you need to think about this: every human has evil traits. So, to stop all the evil in the world, God would have to stop everyone, including you, as you also have evil characteristics and could bring trauma to the world.

Worship

People wonder why a God that is complete would want people to worship him and why it matters. In many religions, you’ll find that their God, or deity, requires worship. Why would it be alright for others, but it’s not alright for the Christian’s God to want the same thing?

Women

One question is about why women are seen as inferior. In the bible, you’ll see that’s not true. There are many strong women in the Bible, including Mary, Sarah, Ruth, and Esther, among others. They had jobs and helped make the world a better place. They had value just as men did.

Morality

Atheists can argue that a person can possess kindness and be a good person without God’s teachings. Still, people of faith view God as the source of morality and understand that goodness is not merely a concept, but an attribute of God. They want to be good and kind because it’s the right thing to do.

Science

Another popular question is whether science contradicts Christianity, and the answer is no; it doesn’t. You’ll find that a good deal of scientists were Christians. Science focuses on the natural, while faith focuses on the supernatural. For instance, many people believe that science can help people understand the ‘how’ while faith explains the ‘why.’

Doubt

People wonder if Christians have a strong faith, but why is there doubt? Christians view doubt as a necessary step in strengthening their faith and as a natural part of spiritual growth. When a Christian feels doubt, they’ll pray to God for guidance and wisdom, believing that the doubt will be answered.

Praying

When people pray, they feel that they will get an answer. Atheists wonder about the people who don’t. The questioning stems from the thought that God is all-powerful, but people plead for help and don’t get it. Faith-filled people believe that this is because things don’t happen on our time; they happen on God’s time, and that he has something planned for each person.

Leaders

Another wonder of people is why some religious leaders don’t live up to the principles they preach. Scandals erupt, hypocrisy arises, and many people find they can’t trust their pastor or preacher. The simple truth is that they are still human beings who suffer from the same moral weaknesses that you have, and they can fall into sin the same way their churchgoers can.

The Afterlife

For atheists, they believe that this is the only life they have. Nothing more, nothing less. So they try to make the most of it. It’s a common misconception that Christians rarely do the same. The difference is that for a Christian, it’s not just about enjoying life. It’s about preparing for what’s coming next.

The Bible

Many people wonder if the bible is real and if it’s trustworthy. There is and has been more evidence to support the reliability of the Bible, including historical confirmation from a multitude of cultures, ancient scrolls, the writings of historians, and scientific discoveries that have corroborated biblical details, among other evidence.

Loving

A popular question about God is whether he’s truly loving. The answer is that he is. He sent his only son for us. He loves all of his creations and provides for every living thing, and knows each one of them. People have experienced peace, clarity, love, and forgiveness with God, as well as understanding that he’s compassionate.

Miracles

With so much suffering, some wonder how Christians could believe in miracles. But the truth is, they’re all around you. A mother getting pregnant after years of trying and getting the gift of a family, a family in debt and distress, gets the job they need and can turn their life around, etc.. Jesus’s resurrection was a miracle, and the bible shows many miracles as well.

Christian Faith

While it may not always be easy to understand faith and there are many questions surrounding it, we hope we’ve given you some peace on these 15 questions at least for the moment. Understanding faith doesn’t have to be an overly complicated situation; it just requires a bit of study and understanding.
